Early Education & Child Care Program
Our early education & child care program at SproutHouse is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach and grounded in an emergent curriculum. We create space for children to explore, experiment, and express themselves in a variety of ways—whether that’s through building and creating, taking things apart and putting them back together, or simply getting a little messy in the process. We value these moments as meaningful parts of learning.
Guided by the Reggio idea of the environment as the “third teacher,” our classrooms are thoughtfully designed to invite curiosity, creativity, and collaboration. The materials we offer and the way our spaces are arranged are intentional, encouraging children to engage in imaginative play and deeper exploration.
Our educators take time to observe and listen closely to the children, using these insights to shape curriculum experiences that reflect their interests and questions. This approach helps ensure that learning is engaging, relevant, and responsive. Rather than following a set program, we co-create learning opportunities with children through carefully planned, open-ended experiences.
As a nature-based centre, we place strong importance on building connections with the natural world. Outdoor play is a central part of our daily rhythm, offering children opportunities to move, explore, and develop a sense of wonder about their environment. Indoors, we continue this connection by incorporating natural materials and experiences that reflect the changing seasons and the world around us.
Our program includes nine classrooms, serving children from 12 months to 5 years old. Each classroom supports a sense of belonging, community, and continuity as children grow and learn.
