Our Mission

SproutHouse Early Education aims to be a thoughtful and evolving presence in the field of early learning. We believe children benefit from warm, welcoming environments where they are seen as capable, curious, and creative learners.

We view early childhood educators as professionals with specialized knowledge of pedagogy and the early years. We support this by encouraging ongoing professional learning and staying informed about developments in the field, both locally and beyond.

At SproutHouse, we value the many ways children explore and express their understanding of the world. Our approach is influenced by the schools of Reggio Emilia, particularly their emphasis on collaborative, project-based learning. Educators work alongside children as co-learners, supporting meaningful and engaging experiences. Rather than relying on predetermined themes or workbooks, we follow children’s interests and ideas, while remaining mindful of diverse perspectives and ways of knowing, including Indigenous worldviews.

We are committed to ongoing reflection and growth, and we regularly reconsider our practices to better support children and families. We see early learning spaces as part of the community—places where relationships, inclusion, and care for the environment are fostered.

The environments we create, the materials we offer, and our daily interactions all reflect how we see children. In our work, we aim to communicate a simple message: you belong here, you are respected, and your ideas matter.
